Food in School
We are a nut-free school. Please do NOT send your child with a packed lunch or snack which contains nuts or anything made with nuts due to other children having severe nut allergies.
Our school day includes lunchtime provision. You can chose to provide your child with a packed lunch or we can supply them with a hot meal. All children in Reception to Year 2 are entitled to Infant Free School Meals, which are funded by the government, if your child is in Year 3-6 payment for their meal will be required, unless you are entitled to free school meals.
Your child may be eligible for free school meals if you receive any of the following benefits: Income support, Income-based jobseekers’ allowance, Income-related employment and support allowance, Child tax credit, provided that you are not also entitled to working tax credit and have an annual gross income of £16,190 or less, if you are supported under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999, guarantee element of State Pension Credit, Working Tax Credit during the four-week period immediately after your employment finishes or after you start working fewer hours per week or Universal Credit with an annual net earned income of no more than £7400 (from 1st April 2018). Even if your child is currently in Reception-Year 2 and you are eligible for Free School Meals, you should apply now so that provision is uninterrupted as they move up the school.
To apply go to www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals
From Year 3 onwards children's meals cost £2.35 per day per child or £11.75 per week. To use our online payment system, ParentPay please email email@example.com for your login details.
Our school meals provider is abm catering solutions - please see the Grow abm introduction leaflet in the side panel. The ingredients will, where possible, be sourced locally and the menu is checked by a nutritionist for balance across the meal choices on a day and over the week. Please see the latest School Lunch Menu in the side panel of this page. If your child has a medically diagnosed allergy or intolerance, then please contact the school office and we can ensure that their needs are catered for.
Every day we have on offer for the children:
- Fresh wholemeal bread
- Salad bar
- Choice of puddings
Please note that a Halal meat option is available from the kitchen every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Booking a school meal
We ask you to book and pay for your meals on the Friday before the following feeding week. This ensures that the Kitchen Team can order sufficient ingredients to feed everyone on any given day. If your child is unwell please telephone or email the School Office with the meal pattern on the Friday before then promptly paying on the Monday.
As a cashless School, meals must be paid for online using the ParentPay Online Payments system. Registration information for this system can be obtained by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org If paying in this way, please email email@example.com with the relevant meal pattern.
If you decide to provide a packed lunch, please read our packed lunch guidance, which is also available to download in the side panel. Research shows that eating a healthy school lunch can positively affect children’s behaviour in the classroom. As you will be aware there is increasing concern about rising rates of obesity and health-related problems in children. As a school, it is part of our responsibility to help children learn how to eat healthily and, as such, we encourage you to follow to the guidelines provided to help you make informed choices for your child’s packed lunch. Water is always available, so providing an additional healthy drink is optional.
