Maths

Maths is taught through a daily maths lesson. The teachers will model the learning for the children and this will be displayed to support them. We use a range of resources to support mathematical thinking and the children are encouraged to explain their reasoning.

In our maths lessons we follow the Power Maths Scheme, supplemented with extra challenges from Enrich and other excellent resources.  After research and training we decided as a school that this scheme supported the key progression we needed in maths to ensure knowledge is revisited and built on.

We supplement our daily maths lessons with key fluency work in number bonds, times tables, doubles etc and with key basic skills work. This includes methods the children will need to apply their maths, misconceptions and key knowledge the children need to learn.

The children love the Rock Star tables work that is helping them develop the accuracy and fluency they need. They find it fun too!
